Did Jesus Really Resurrect?
Jesus' appearances following His death admit of no other reasonable (as opposed to flimsy) explanation except a resurrection. It is the only one that best explains the strings of events that followed--the empty tomb, the appearances to so many people, the failure of the Jews to produce Jesus' body, the sudden transformation of the disciples from fear to boldness, and their willingness to die a martyr's death. All of these factors combine to make the case for Jesus' resurrection strong. The historicity of Jesus' resurrection does not depend on only one evidence, but on the cumulative evidence, such as the ones mentioned above.

Any question that arises in connection with the Resurrection will stem from minds that do not accept the necessity of being born from above.
ReplyDeleteWithout the Resurrection of Jesus, the Bible is false; and if the Bible is false, we are free to justify ourselves by our own self-righteousness. This would be opposite of the "Way", which is Christ's righteousness.
Exactly. The resurrection of Jesus lies at the heart of Christianity. If Jesus did not resurrect, there would be no Christianity. That is why critics have been trying their best to discredit Christianity by attacking its very foundation--the resurrection of Jesus. The evidences for Jesus' resurrection, however, are overwhelmingly too many that any attempt to explain it away now appears naive and ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteMaybe instead of arguing about the fact OF the Resurrection, we should steer the conversation to the reasons FOR the Resurrection. Why Jesus had to die, be buried, rise, and ascend; and how that affects you and me. Why that is important and so on. This could change the mood of the conversation from confrontation to communication. From confusion of the mind to conviction of the heart.
